As someone who is, once again, struggling with the moral quandary known as eating animals, and trying to keep my fledgling vegetarianism on track, I thought I’d share this piece from Metro Silicon Valley.
It’s a short column, in which the author takes to task the idea of organic and local meat, and all the hip and elite ways to eat meat. The conclusion:
“The current trendy focus on sustainable and organic meat, coupled with the recent horrific revelations about Westland Meat Company, indicate that people are thinking about it more than ever. That’s a good thing. Killing sentient creatures for pleasure, gustatory or not, still isn’t.”
Here, here. I’m going to have to remember that next time I have that bacon crave.
