Media Massage is the home for writer and editor Jon Whiten on the web. It features links, clips, and occasional press criticism and other things as he sees fit. Whiten is the senior editor for the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies (aan.org and altweeklies.com), and his work has appeared in Extra!, In These Times, City Limits, Boston’s Weekly Dig, the New York Press, and some other fine (and some not-so-fine) publications. From Summer 2006-Summer 2007, he was the founder and managing editor of City Belt magazine, a start-up independent newsmagazine based in Jersey City. He is a freelance fact-checker for Columbia Journalism Review, and is also the managing editor of NEW, a Jersey City lifestyle magazine published twice a year.
